Robert McCaslin

Co-Founder

Robert’s journey is one of unwavering resilience and remarkable transformation. Despite facing addiction from an early age, he never allowed it to define him. Instead, he confronted his demons head-on, seeking healing and solace on the path to recovery. While attending the University of Denver, his friends and family witnessed his unwavering determination to overcome the odds stacked against him.

Driven by a desire to make a difference, Robert embarked on a successful career in sales, achieving remarkable heights of success. Yet, he realized that true fulfillment lay in dedicating his life to something more meaningful – supporting individuals on their own journeys of recovery and mental health. Taking a leap of faith, he embraced a side job managing a sober home, and it was in this role that he discovered his true calling.

Robert’s passion for recovery and mental health was undeniable, and with an unshakeable belief in the power of compassion and understanding, he decided to take a leap of faith. With boundless enthusiasm and unwavering dedication, Robert co-founded Sunlight Sober Living, a beacon of hope for those seeking a fresh start in life. Adams McDavid

Co-Founder

Adams dedicated his life to serving others with compassion, integrity, and a deeply rooted belief in the power of transformation. With over 15 years of experience in social and recovery services, his work spanned caring for adults with physical and mental disabilities, supporting abused children in residential treatment settings, and ultimately, guiding countless men on their journey to sobriety.

Originally from Oxford, Mississippi, Adams understood the reality of addiction not just professionally, but personally. He had walked the difficult road of recovery himself and emerged with an empathy that couldn’t be taught—only earned. His lived experience gave him a unique ability to connect with others, meet them where they were, and gently guide them toward hope.

That calling led him to co-found Sunlight Sober Living in Austin, Texas—a home built not just on the principles of sobriety, but on community, purpose, and healing. While his co-founder Robert helped shape the vision, it was Adams who brought it to life day after day, pouring his heart into the men he served. For him, Sunlight was never just a job; it was his mission.

Though Adams is no longer with us, his impact lives on in every life he touched. In his memory, we are honored to establish the Adams Way Scholarship Fund—a tribute to his lifelong dedication to helping others rise. This fund will provide financial support for men who are ready to embrace recovery but may not have the means to begin their journey at Sunlight.

Through this scholarship, Adams’ legacy continues—offering a second chance to those who need it most, and ensuring his light keeps shining for years to come.
